Munchkin Cats can make good pets in Vermont if they match your IifestyIe. The Munchkin is a fairly new and largely unrecognized breed of cat distinguished by its abnormally short legs. Munchkin advocates describe the cats as being wonderful choices for small homes. Munchkins are bred from a variety of other cat breeds for the specific trait of having short legs. Therefore, the temperaments of these cats vary widely as do their other physical characteristics.

All Munchkins suffer from a genetic malformation, achondroplasia, which causes their abnormally short legs. All Munchkins are descended from a tomcat named Toulouse. Munchkins are also known as Baby Legs. Munchkins come from a pregnant, short-legged cat found under a trailer in Louisiana in the early eighties.
