My two Munchkin short-leg boys, Cheeto and Milky Way were exposed to a neighborhood feral cat during the time we were moving into our new house, and they later both tested positive for FeLV. They are both very healthy, with no symptoms, and my vet said there is a fairly good chance that they may overcome the exposure and be negative again in the future. Putting them down was a horrible thought, and giving them to an FeLV rescue would cost $500 each for a donation. I tried to re-home them on Craigslist, but the 'hate mail' I got was alarming. Bad experience... but within a week of being on Rescue Me!, both of these wonderful kitties were adopted to a family, and they are going together! They are being neutered this Thursday and will meet their new family on Friday. All of the people who have contacted me on Rescue Me have been nice, and seem to be responsible owners. No crackpots! No hate mail! I will recommend Rescue Me every chance I get--thank you so much for a great experience! Charlotte |
